Why is Early Intervention Important?

Early intervention provides specialised support as early as possible to work on your child’s development.  The early years are recognised as a sensitive development period laying a foundation for cognitive functioning; behavioural, social, and self-regulatory capacities; and physical health.

Early intervention programs have been found to have long-lasting benefits into adulthood.

Early intervention includes education support, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy.

At HECIS we work with all professionals involved in your child’s early intervention program to ensure supports are integrated into your child's early learning environment. The Raising Children Network provides further general information about early intervention for children with disability.
